Eli's Story

Eli* and his provider were planning for "top" surgery (double mastectomy for female-to-male transition) and had submitted a prior authorization. The procedure initially wasn’t approved because of a missing therapist letter (a necessary part of the clinical documentation). Eli called his Transgender Benefits Specialist.

Eli's Benefit Specialist coordinated with the Premier Advocacy Medical Director, whose subsequent outreach to the therapist resulted in the needed documentation being received.

The documents were expedited for review by the Premier team and approved the next day.

Eli’s Specialist asked about his new chosen name and updated Eli’s account to alert any future agents of the preference.

Eli successfully completed the procedure and is currently on the road to a full transition.
